The Castillo de San Marcos is Booming to see you during
the St. Augustine History Festival!
May 10 and 11 – Blast from the Past
Hear history come alive with the boom of cannon fire! Built by the Spanish in St. Augustine to defend Florida and the Atlantic trade route, Castillo de San Marcos is the oldest masonry fortification in the continental United States. Historic weapons demonstrations will begin at 10:30AM, 11:30AM, 1:30PM, 2:30PM, and 3:30PM, weather and staffing permitting. Admission Fees: Adults (age 16 and above) $15.00. Children (age 15 and under) are admitted free of charge but must be accompanied by an adult. America the Beautiful Passes are accepted. For more information, call 904-829-6506.

Built on land that was once home to the Timucua, the Castillo saw generations of soldiers from Spain, Great Britain, and the United States set down roots and protect the people of St. Augustine. Today, Castillo de San Marcos’ park rangers need your help in preserving this important place and its many stories for generations to come.
