This ceramic sherd may not look like much, but it helps us track the growth of St. Augustine in the late 16th through early 18th centuries. Between the years of 1589 andProfessional archaeologists and volunteers will be on-hand to share a variety of Native American and early Spanish Colonial artifacts on display at the Governor’s House. From stone projectile points, food debris and fish bones, small European glass beads, ceramics, and other objects from the Spanish wells discovered at the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park – the original site of Saint Augustine in 1565.
