Headquarters of the Florida National Guard since 1907, St. Francis Barracks continues the legacy of Florida’s First Muster of Troops in the nation’s oldest city on September 16, 1565.

 

In additon to the  information on your left concerning cemetery tours with Dr. Giroux, you may also join Command Historian of the Florida National Guard Alison Simpson for a guided tour of St. Francis Barracks and grounds on Saturday, May 13, at 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. This one-hour tour features the early history of the property as a Franciscan headquarters, its use as a U.S. Army installation of the 19th century, the history of Florida’s military, and the historic St. Augustine National Cemetery.
